Day 12 - January 13th
We took a bus ride to the airport to find out that our flight to São Paulo was delayed for an hour. We all just chilled scattered over the airport floor waiting for our flight. Luckily enough we didn’t miss our connecting flight to Iguaçu. Once outdoors the temperature was very hot, more than the other three cities we stayed at. Once we drove into the neighborhood were our hostel was it seemed like a very peaceful neighborhood. At Managa Rosa we were greeted by Joelton and his dog Einstein. I was already in love with the place since I first laid eyes on Einstein, I love animals! We settled in and chose our rooms, Tait went out to buy lunch and towels. Manga Rosa was so liberating in the sense that we can hang out doors and do different activities. We all enjoyed a variety of fruits Tait bought and we put our lunch on the grill. The rest of the day consisted in soccer, yoga, dancing and limbo.
Day 13 - January 14th
We had a little late start this morning, Andy T. had made scrambled eggs for everyone. I helped myself to some and sandwiched it in my bread. We left the hostel towards one of the seven wonders, Parque Nacional do Iguaçu. The line was incredible it wrapped in various directions outside and once it reached inside, the line continued! When we finally reached the two level bus, we all enjoyed the views leading up to the falls. Once we arrived we were able to see the falls from a distance, I took advantage of this view and took some pictures. Going down the stairs leading towards the falls took about an hour, and the closer you got the breeze from the falls hit you. When we finally reached the bridge that takes you across the falls, there was a little cart selling raincoats and waterproof cellphone cases. It was funny to see as some of the ladies came out, most of their makeup was running down their faces. I was not worried at all, I walked down the bridge and every time I moved further in the more drenched I got! I enjoyed the view and took a couple pictures. As everyone finished their walk across the bridge they waited outside, we came to realize that Andy C. was missing. The group got worried, Tyler and Tait went across the bridge again in hope to find him. After what seemed to be twenty minutes, Andy C. came walking from the opposite direction in which we were headed. Boy were we glad to see him!
After the falls we had lunch, my lunch consisted of a veggie hoagie, cup of fruits and some fresh mango juice. I enjoyed my meal very much, it was soon time to go. We all went into a souvenir shop and bought a couple things. I bought myself a coral colored shirt with the falls in the background, it fit me perfectly. We proceeded to start our “Safari Journey” which consisted of hiking through the forest. This was such a challenge since the humidity was so high. |
Day 14 - January 15th
Our last day in Brazil consisted of us visiting the IPAITPU Dam. Once we arrived it came to our attention that we could not enter because the girls were wearing shorts. After Tait talking to a few people, explaining the situation they agreed to let us in. The only condition was for the girls to wear some uniform pants they had. We all put on the oversized pants with the exception of Kim and Jacklyn. Tait had to purchase non-refundable pants at the gift shop so they can enter. The tour guides were very informational and very well prepared. They explained every detail along the way and once inside the dam as well. Interesting enough we were in two countries at once, Brazil and Paraguay. Once we returned a couple members of the group bought souvenirs. I bought a dream catcher that were the colors of Brazil.
Once we got back to our hostel I started packing. I wanted to ensure that I wasn’t missing anything, or at least be mostly packed. Tait said he will treat us to a churrascaria, so Heather and I were planning to stay behind since we were vegetarian. As it turns out he took us to a buffet a few blocks away, boy were we glad! I enjoyed my meal and the company of the group since it was our last meal together. We wobbled back to Manga Rosa and relaxed for our last few hours in Brazil.
